Inpatient Rehab

Inpatient Rehab Treatment

Inpatient rehab will give you 24 hour monitoring and care.

Inpatient rehab programs are the most highly sought after types of treatment because they are proven effective. Unlike outpatient rehab programs which cannot provide around the clock monitoring that is often necessary to completely prevent relapse, inpatient rehab programs provide constant medical supervision, monitoring and support to assure relapse prevention. Inpatient rehab programs offer the best possible chance for an addict to make a full recovery from addiction and maintain long term sobriety.

Services Provided at Inpatient Rehab Programs

Many of the same services are provided at both inpatient and outpatient rehab programs including counseling, medication administration and social support, however some services such as housing and around the clock supervision cannot be found in an outpatient rehab program. Inpatient rehab programs provide addiction treatment for both individuals suffering from alcoholism and drug addiction and many offer help for a range of mental health or co-occurring conditions as well.

Individual Counseling at Inpatient Rehab

Individual counseling sessions at inpatient rehab programs provide a safe environment for people to work with a counselor one-on-one and overcome many facets and struggles of addiction. During an individual counseling session, the addict may talk with a therapist or addiction counselor about various topics including their goals for recovery, how they plan on attaining those goals, their past and present situation, how their lifestyle has affected their addiction and how their addiction has affected their life. Any topic is fair game at an individual counseling session in an inpatient rehab program.

Group Counseling at Inpatient Rehab

Group counseling sessions provide a place for addicts to come together with their peers and get the support that they need from people who share in their same or similar struggles. During a group counseling session at an inpatient rehab program addicts are all encouraged to contribute to the group in a positive manner and there is no finger pointing allowed. These sessions have been proven to be a highly effective means of helping addicts overcome many hurdles of addiction and sustain long term sobriety which is why most inpatient rehab programs are heavily based on a series of group counseling sessions.

Family Counseling at Inpatient Rehab

Many inpatient rehab centers recognize that addicts are not the only ones who are hurt and require treatment as a result of addiction, families hurt and they need help too. Inpatient rehab programs now offer family counseling sessions that are aimed at helping the loved ones of those in treatment to become better educated about addiction and better understand the recovery process. The idea is that by providing support for the family which is the primary support network for the addict, long term recovery is more likely and the chance of relapse is greatly reduced.

The Difference Between Inpatient Rehab and Outpatient Rehab

The primary difference between inpatient rehab and outpatient rehab is the level of monitoring and support. Inpatient rehab is typically also more expensive than outpatient rehab because when an individual is in an inpatient rehab program they are provided with a place to live, eat and receive around the clock medical treatment and care.

When an addict enters inpatient rehab, they are entering into an environment where there are no distractions. Addicts in inpatient rehab programs eat, sleep and breath treatment because every facet of the rehab program is built around recovery from addiction. From the food that is served (which is usually based on a cleansing and nutritional diet) to the therapy to the additional activities such as outdoor excursions and adventures, every single minute of time that is spent in an inpatient rehab program is based on recovery from addiction.
